Swinton
Park is a privately-owned, luxurious castle hotel, set within 200
acres of parkland, lakes and gardens. Dating from the 17th century,
the castle today is an award-winning four-star hotel with 32 beautifully
decorated bedrooms and suites situated on the first or second floor
with fabulous views of the surrounding countryside. The new Family
Suite, Semerwater, offers a Baron’s category room with adjoining
twin/double with a shower room. Each individually-designed bedroom
is themed around a Yorkshire town, dale, garden, castle or abbey
and is fully equipped with modem points, WiFi access, CD player,
satellite TV, trouser press, drinks tray and coffee/tea facilities.
Gracious public rooms include the drawing room, sitting room and
morning room, furnished with antiques, family portraits, fresh flowers
and cosy fires in winter, creating a comfortable setting where guests
can relax. The sumptuous dining room, with its unusual gold-leaf
ceiling, offers the finest modern British cuisine, with an emphasis
on game, fish, vegetables, fruit and herbs sourced from the family
estate and hotel's walled garden.
The
hotel's courtyard conservatory is a light and comfortable spa,
with jacuzzi, showers and exercise and seating area. Guests
have exclusive use of the spa for up to an hour at a time
without charge, subject to guest demand. A range of health and
beauty treatments are also offered in luxurious new treatment rooms.
The Castle is set within 200 acres of parkland, lakes and gardens,
surrounded by the 20,000 acre family estate. Paths meander through
the gardens, woods and parkland past the five lakes, grottos, streams
and waterfalls, whilst the dales and surrounding countryside also
offers wonderful walks. Other attractions under an hour's drive
include abbeys, castles, historic houses, gardens, racecourses and
scenic beauty spots. Activities available at the hotel include bowls,
