Luxury Country House Hotel in Sussex
Renowned Restaurant ~ Michelin Star
Beautiful gardens in Sussex countryside

Gravetye Manor is today one of the best hotels in Sussex. A handsome Elizabethan manor built in 1598 by Richard Infield for his wife Katherine, it was later bought by William Robinson, one of the great pioneering gardeners of all time. During his many years at Gravetye, from 1884 to 1935, William Robinson created a beautiful English natural garden, where the variety and charm of the arrangement of trees and shrubs, the landscaping and the layout of the different types of garden is still as captivating today (open only to hotel guests). There is still a 1000-acre oasis of forest, while a wonderful Kitchen Garden to serve the award-winning restaurant has now reached completion.

In 1958 Peter Herbert came to Gravetye, transforming the manor house into one of England's finest country house hotels. The service is warm and friendly, and guests will enjoy relaxing over coffee in one of the comfortable sitting rooms where exquisite period features such as ornate moulded ceilings and oak panelling combine with cosy sofas, open fires and fresh flowers. The Restaurant at Gravetye has gained much recognition, boasting Three AA Red Rosettes and a Michelin Star to name but two of its many accolades, while the extensive wine list offers over 600 bins and is renowned as one of the finest cellars in the UK.Traditional afternoon tea with homemade cakes and biscuits is also not to be missed. Each of the 17 bedrooms is elegantly furnished with a well-equipped en-suite bathroom, fruit, books and magazines, while many offer a lovely view of the garden.

Wonderful walks can be enjoyed around the lake, gardens and woodland at Gravetye, while places of interest within easy reach include the splendid gardens at Wakehurst, Leonardslee and Sheffield Park, famous Glyndebourne Opera, the city of Brighton and the Royal Pavilion, and Chartwell, home of Sir Winston Churchill.

Gravetye Manor is proudly a member of 'Relais et Chateaux', the association created over forty years ago in France to promote hotels of excellence, situated in areas of rural peace and beauty and personally supervised by their owners. Special offers are available throughout the autumn, winter and spring months.
