The Swan dates back to the 15th Century when it played a key role in Lavenham's wool trade. Today it is a quintessential English country hotel and restaurant, proud of its achievement of an AA four star 82% rating and two AA Rosettes. Ancient oak beams and inglenook fireplaces blend beautifully with rich furnishings and fabrics to create the perfect ambiance for rest and relaxation. The historic Old Bar boasts a wonderful collection of memorabilia, including a wall signed by British and American airmen stationed at Lavenham Airfield during World War II.

The Swan is a wonderful place in which to celebrate a variety of special occasions, including romantic weddings, christenings and family get-togethers.

Each of the Swan's 45 enchanting bedrooms boast a mix of rich fabrics and contemporary furnishings co-ordinated in soft and mellow colours. All of our bedrooms have been newly refurbished by local designer, Roger Balmer.

Named after local Suffolk villages, many of our bedrooms are original in style with luxurious fabrics and furniture. From classic double rooms to mezzanine suites and four poster beds, they are sure to delight. Oak beams and original Medieval wall paintings abound and you will take great delight wandering through the corridors and discovering the truly original character of The Swan. Each bedroom has an en-suite bathroom, plasma TV screen and tea and coffee making facilities.

Guests can relax in the welcoming bar, or enjoy a traditional afternoon tea in the charming lounge, furnished with comfortable sofas and fresh flowers, while the courtyard gardens make a pleasant setting for an aperitif on warm summer evenings prior to enjoying the finest food in the award-winning restaurant.

The picturesque village of Lavenham is an ideal base from which to explore the many attractions in Suffolk, including the historic houses of Kentwell Hall, Melford Hall and Gainsborough House. Other highlights in the area include the beautiful Suffolk Heritage Coast, and Dedham and Flatford Mill, which greatly inspired the painter John Constable. Lavenham, itself, once the region's centre for the wool trade, boasts an array of perfectly-preserved half-timbered buildings, many painted in the traditional Suffolk pink, and is today one of the most visited villages in Suffolk. Of particular note is the 16th century Corpus Christi Guildhall and the Perpendicular church of St Peter and St Paul with a large nave and tall flint tower. Tariff Terms and Conditions
All prices are per room per night inclusive of VAT at 17.5%. A non-refundable and non-transferable deposit of £60.00 per room is required for all bookings. No cancellation fee will be payable provided the cancellation is made 48 hours by 2pm prior to the day of arrival.

Saturday night rates are based on a minimum stay of two nights. Saturday one night stays (when available) carry a £25.00 per person supplement.

Dinner rates include a food allowance to the value of £35.95 per person, which is the price of our three course set menu.

Children aged from five to sixteen are charged £15.00 per child per night B&B when sharing a room with two full paying adults.

Rooms are available from 2.30pm on the day of arrival and must be vacated by 11.00am on the day of departure.

The hotel accepts well behaved dogs at a charge of £10.00 per night. Only guide dogs are permitted in food service areas.

Please note that The Swan Hotel is a strictly non-smoking hotel.

To avoid disappointment we recommend you make your dinner reservation at the time of booking. We accept all major credit cards and personal cheques guaranteed by a bank card. Thorpeness and Aldeburgh Hotels Ltd reserve the right to alter prices without prior notification, but will not do so once a reservation is guaranteed.

Children Policy
Children Staying Children aged four years and under stay on a complimentary bed and breakfast basis, children aged from five to sixteen are charged £15.00 per child per night B&B when sharing a room with two full paying adults, with all other meals charged as taken. Children occupying their own room will be charged at the full rate. Children ten years and under will receive a complimentary activity pack which includes a colouring book, toy and jigsaw.

Baby Sitting
We do not offer a baby listening or sitting service however we work in partnership with Safehands UK, who are the leading provider of babysitting and mobile crèche services in the UK. If you need to book a Safehands registered, qualified and screened carer to look after your children, please call Safehands direct, at least forty eight hours prior to your stay, on 0844 8482810.

Children Dining
Children under the age of twelve years can choose from the Restaurant, Room Service or Lounge menu and only pay half price. Alternatively choose from The Swan's "Kid's Menyoo", designed by children for children, and charged as taken.
